Mark E. Francis earned an MA in Comparative Literature at the University of Washington and an MA and a PhD in Chinese at Stanford. He has taught at Stanford, the University of Washington, the University of Auckland, Trinity College (Hartford), USMA at West Point, and is now Director of the Critical Languages Center at the University of Alabama. He translates classical Chinese poetry for literary and academic publications, and has original poetry appearing in numerous small press journals.
