Susan Fulop Kepner has been translating contemporary Thai fiction and poetry for over twenty years. Among her translations are the novels Letters from Thailand (Botan) and A Child of the Northeast (Kampoon Boontawee). An anthology of fiction by and about Thai women, The Lioness in Bloom: Women in Modern Thai Literature, was published in 1996 by the University of California Press. She has recently completed a work entitled Married to the Demon King: Tales after the Thai Ramayana by Sridaoruang. Dr. Kepner teaches Southeast Asian Literature and Thai Language in the Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
