Paul Rich

Professor Paul Rich is Titular Professor of International Relations and History at the University of the Americas and a Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, where he has authored numerous publications. He is involved in many projects being developed between Stanford and UDLA, including an annual conference known as the Congress of the Americas.

He is the author of numerous books and articles, and is partiuclarly interested in the use of the Internet to make archives more accessible. He supervises the gathering and scanning of original sources for a special collection in the UDLA library.

Dr. Rich attended Tonbridge School in England before entering Harvard, and was a research professor at the Unviersity of Western Australia before taking up his appointments at Hoover and UDLA. He is a governor, trustee or fellow of many learned societies and institutions, including Manchester and harris College, Oxford University, and he is involved in the establishing of the college residential system at UDLA.

Dr. Rich is a fellow of the new residential college at UDLA, Cain-Murray, and has curated an exhibit on the life of Henry Cain. Cain-Murray College is a part of an ambitious plan to give UDLA the same sort of residential facilities as are offered by the colleges at Harvard, Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge.

Dr. Rich presents many conference papers each year and engages in numerous independent activities as well: he sponsors student internships at the Organization of American States; he is involved in the preservation of Mexican archives (particularly those of the Royal Arch movement), he is surveying all the temples of Secret Societies in Mexico, attempting to photograph them and obtain inventories of their contents.
