Sayan Zhambalov, writer, actor and singer, is the premiere Buryat artist of the young generation and has been recognized with the title Honored Artist of the Republic. He was born in the Buryat-Aginsk Region, and educated in the Ulan-Ude and at the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music, and Cinematography. He currently works at the Buryat National Theatre. A collection of his poetry and songs was published in Ulan-Ude in 1995. He isalso an accomplished throat singer and player of the khuun khoor. In 1999, he recorded a CD of traditional Buryat music with the Urag-sha Band.
