We are thrilled to launch our third season with a stellar roster of authors and translators. Stop by 111 Minna on Tuesdays at lunchtime this spring to hear Kenyan author Ngugi wa Thiong'o, legendary poet W.S. Merwin, and Edith Grossman, translator of Mario Vargas Llosa and Gabriel García Márquez.

Poetry Inside Out Students Win Grand Prize, Top Honors in National Poetry Contest
Poetry Inside Out student Maggie Gallagher is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2008 River of Words contest for environmental poetry and art, judged by former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Hass. Three other Poetry Inside Out students—Evelín Avila Torres, Mayra Centeno Mendoza, and Brendan Fong—have been selected as finalists. Congratulations Maggie, Evelín, Mayra, and Brendan!
Welcome to a World of Language, Literature & Learning
The Center for the Art of Translation is committed to giving voice to great
world writing by publishing fresh English translations alongside the
original language text. We seek to promote world literature--with its power
to move, inform, and inspire--and provide a window into the cultures that
produce it.
We accomplish these goals through two primary programs:
Two Lines, an internationally acclaimed anthology of world literature
translated into English
and
Poetry Inside Out, the only school program of its kind, offering kids the
opportunity to write and translate poetry between two languages
