Associations
The American Literary Translators Association, whose national offices are located at the Center for Translation Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas, was founded in 1978 to provide essential services to literary translators from all languages and to create a professional forum for the exchange of ideas on the art and craft of translation.
The American Translators Association (ATA), founded in 1959, is the largest professional association of translators and interpreters in the US ATA's primary goals include fostering and supporting the professional development of translators and interpreters and promoting the translation and interpretation professions. Their web site will help you learn more about the American Translators Association and the translation and interpretation professions.
The American University in Paris, Center for Writers and Translators serves to galvanize the already active literary culture at AUP and to provide a focus for the many different sorts of creative writing which the university both hosts and sponsors.
The Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association (AATIA) serves translators and interpreters who live and work in Central Texas and farther afield with opportunities to share expertise. Their web site promotes the recognition of translation and interpretation through news and reading lists that highlight the tools and techniques of professional translators and interpreters. The site has many unique features, including a "Linguist Locator," and you can download a copy of their newsletter - The AATIA Letter – directly from the site.
The British Centre for Literary Translation funds an extensive programme of events with visiting lecturers, conferences, and translators in residence. Founded in 1989, the Centre helps foster translation from and into European, Asian and African languages. It organises conferences, seminars, workshops and lectures on translation. The Centre also publishes a newsletter and a number of scholarly works. Its main commitment is in offering bursaries to translators, allowing them spend up to eight weeks living and working at UEA.
The Northern California Translators Association (NCTA) is a professional association of translators and interpreters based in Northern California, and a chapter of the American Translators Association (ATA). Translorial, the quarterly newsletter of the NCTA, publishes articles and information of interest to translators.
The PEN Translation Committee supports the work and rights of American translators and furthers the art of literary translation. From its inception, International PEN has been concerned with the proliferation and preservation of literary translation as cornerstone of communication and understanding between nations. The Translation Committee at PEN American Center was founded in 1959 to protect and support the work of literary translators and to celebrate the art of translation.
Magazines
HEAT is a new Australian literary magazine, with an international orientation. It is committed to the publication of good writing, in English, and in translation into English. HEAT publishes poetry, fiction and essays: writing which is experimental, provocative, intellectual and passionate.
Renditions is a journal of translations from Chinese to English of prose and poetry, classical and modern. Based at the Research Centre for Translation at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Renditions is published twice-yearly.
Tameme is an annual bilingual literary magazine of new writing from North America — Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Inside you will find short stories, travel writing, humor, memoirs, and poetry from some of the most interesting literary artists on the continent.

Archipelago Books is a not-for-profit press devoted to publishing excellent translations of classic and contemporary world literature. In its first five years, it has brought out over forty-five books from nearly twenty languages.
Autumn Hill Books is a non-profit press that maintains close ties with the writing and residency programs at the University of Iowa, and with such Iowa-based publications as The Iowa Review, exchanges magazine, and 91st Meridian.
