Independent booksellers are the lifeblood of our communities and vital partners for any small press like ours. We love Independent Bookstore Day and are delighted to spread the word about this fantastic one-day celebration!
2019’s Author Ambassador Tayari Jones (An American Marriage) enthuses: “Independent bookstores combine two of my favorite things — independence and (of course) books. Every indie store is as carefully curated as a museum because the owners care about getting the right stories into the hands of the people who live in that community. Indie stores are hyper-local, yet they share thoughts from all over the world.”
Limited edition swag includes a “We Should All Be Feminists” canvas pouch with a quote from Chimamanda Ngozo Adichie’s book of the same name, exclusive signed editions of Miriam Toews’ Women Talking and Chuck Palaniuk’s Adjustment Day, Patricia Marx’s Why Don’t You Write My Eulogy Now So I Can Correct It? illustrated by Roz Chast, literary luminary pins, an eating guide for book clubs, plus official Independent Bookstore Day totes and t-shirts — only available for purchase in stores on April 27.
Here are highlights of Bay Area events—find an indie bookstore near you on the official Bookstore Day website!
