The Center for the Art of Translation (CAT) is raising $17 million to renovate a historic San Francisco building and turn it into a permanent public home for literature in translation, a cultural anchor for the city and a gathering place for the world. Donors like you have helped us raise 84% of our goal so far, but we need additional community support to help us raise the final $2.8 million and open our doors. This project is more than just a building. The Center will be a home to an indie bookstore dedicated entirely to translated literature and a state of the art event space where we’ll host public readings, workshops, and more. Your gift helps create a gathering place for conversations around language, diverse perspectives and ideas, and a place for genuine human connection for locals and travelers alike. You can help open our doors!
