Poetry Inside Out Teacher Workshop: August 2026

Poetry Inside Out Teacher Workshops are designed to give 3rd–12th grade educators the tools and techniques needed to bring poetry translation into their teaching practice. Participants receive an introduction to the Poetry Inside Out (the education program of the Center for the Art of Translation), resources and curriculum, the translation process, and tips to guide students. You’ll also learn the program’s fundamentals and how to create custom lesson plans for their classrooms.

Over three 90-minute Zoom sessions on

August 4, 3:30-5 pm PST / 6:30-8 pm EST
August 5, 3:30-5 pm PST / 6:30-8 pm EST
August 6, 3:30-5 pm PST / 6:30-8 pm EST

The workshops will cover: 

  • An introduction to our education program Poetry Inside Out and the translation process. No second language required.
  • Key teaching practices and student-guidance techniques to help you identify and build classroom structures that produce productive conversations and a collaborative learning environment.
  • An overview of our online lessons and materials.
  • How to create custom lessons for your classroom using Poetry Inside Out resources

Participation includes:

  • Ongoing implementation support, including scheduled group meetings and classroom observation.
  • The opportunity to join a local and national network of teachers implementing Poetry Inside Out.
  • An Educator’s Membership, which contains all the online materials necessary to bring Poetry Inside Out into your classroom.

If you can’t make all 3 sessions, please note that these workshops will be recorded and shared with everyone who has registered afterwards.
