Chaumont Devin

Chaumont Devin was born aboard the U.S.S. Chaumont, on March 15, 1942, after several narrow escapes from the advancing Japanese. His parents were missionaries to the Moluccan Islands, in what is now eastern Indonesia. He began collecting Buru words at age fifteen.
