José Eustasio Rivera

José Eustasio Rivera was born on February 19, 1888, in Neiva del Hulia, Columbia. A lawyer and poet, he is best known for his major work La vorágine (The Vortex), considered one of the most important novels in Latin American literary history. He passed away unexpectedly at the age of forty during a visit to New York.
