Helen Hillman

Helen Frances Hillman was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1924 and spent her youth in Porto Alegre. During World War II, she came to Texas to attend Mary Hardin Baylor College, where she majored in botany. She married Jimmye Hillman in 1947 and has worked as a teacher, a translator, a homemaker, and an avid gardener. Mother of three children and three grandchildren, she lives in Tucson, where she is known for her extensive knowledge of local wildlife.
