Vladimir (Vlado) Pisarski was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1959. An invalid on disability and unemployed most of his life, his literary popularity began to grow after he published the poetry collection Non-Deviation in 1989. His novel Homo Bulgaris, or Forecast 2090 (1992) was financed by a lucky lottery ticket. An Island (1994), an autobiographical return to the roots of his evolution as a thinking and writing personality amid an indifferent society, was published in 1995. Pisarski also contributes essays on cultural topics to various Bulgarian newspapers.
