Yoko Tawada

Yoko Tawada, a native of Tokyo who has lived in Germany since the early 1980s, writes in both German and Japanese. Her characters often find themselves caught between different languages and cultures, tricked, perhaps, by the slipperiness of words and the untrustworthiness of language itself.
