Prizes
- Saturnalia Books is now accepting submissions(opens in a new tab) for the Malinda A. Markham Translation Prize, which is given to a female translator of a female poet.
- ALTA recently announced the 2024 recipients of the National Translation Awards in Poetry(opens in a new tab), Prose(opens in a new tab), and for a First Translation(opens in a new tab).
- The National Book Awards announced(opens in a new tab) five finalists for translated literature. Congratulations to all the honorees!

- Creative Europe launched a new program to support translation projects(opens in a new tab) in Armenia, Georgia, and Ukraine.
- You may have heard that Han Kang—Booker Prize-winning author and activist in South Korea—won the Nobel Prize. Congratulations! Duncan Large collected testimonials from some of the translators(opens in a new tab) who brought her work to new audiences internationally.
- The Riyadh Book Fair 2024 in Saudi Arabia featured over 2,000 local and international publishers—read a roundup of the festival here(opens in a new tab)!

Giovanna Lomanto is a poet and essayist with a tendency to play the same song on repeat until she has memorized every last note. She received her BA in English at U.C. Berkeley and finished her MFA at NYU, during which time she published two poetry collections and two mixed media chapbooks.
