Bae Suah has been widely acclaimed as one of Korea’s most innovative contemporary writers. Her debut novel, A Dark Room, was published in 1988, and she has since published two collections of short fiction and a number of other novels. Her prizes include the Dongseo Literary Prize (2004) and the Hankook Ilbo Literary Prize (2003). She lives in Germany. (Photo credit: Open Letter Books)
