Erik Mortenson

Erik Mortensen is a senior lecturer at Wayne State University’s Honors College. He is the author of two books, Capturing the Beat Moment: Cultural Politics and the Poetics of Presence (2011), an examination of the moment as a primary motif in Beat writing, and Ambiguous Borderlands: Shadow Imagery in Cold War American Culture (2016), an investigation of the role shadow imagery plays in Cold War literary and popular texts. He is currently working on a third book, tentatively titled Translating Counterculture, that offers an account of the Beats’ reception in Turkey.
