Murathan Mungan

Murathan Mungan is a Turkish author, short story writer, playwright, and poet. He worked as a dramaturge before devoting all his time to write poetry, plays, short stories, novels, film scenarios, and songs. His first collection of poems, Osmanlıya Dair Hikayat (Stories about Ottomans), was published in 1980, making Mungan an overnight success. A prolific writer, he has written other titles including poetry collections Yaz Gecer (Summer Passes) and Metal, plays Mahmud ile Yezida, Taziye, short story collection Kırk Oda (Forty Rooms) and Paranın Cinleri (Genies of Money), and screenplay Dağınık Yatak (Messy Bed), made into a film by director Atif Yilmaz in 1986.
