Radek Knapp was born in Poland and has lived in Austria since 1976. He studied philosophy at university and his first book, a collection of short stories entitled Franio, received the Aspekte Prize for Literature in 1994. Knapp writes in German, although the influence of his Polish background is clearly seen in his work. His best known books include Ente à l’orange, Herrn Kukas Empfehlungen (Mr. Kuka’s Recommendations), and Papiertiger. Knapp has received numerous awards for his work.
