Yumiko Tsumura

Translator, Japanese
Yumiko Tsumura earned an MFA in poetry and translations from the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. Her poems have appeared in chapbooks and numerous poetry journals. Her translations include Kazuko Shiraishi’s Sea, Land, Shadow, Let Those Who Appear, and My Floating Mother, City. In collaboration with her husband, Sam Grolmes, she produced two volumes of translations of Japan’s foremost postwar poet, Ryuichi Tamura, whom they first met in 1967 at the University of Iowa.
