Face

Mar 10, 2020 | By Ryūnosuke Akutagawa | Translated from Japanese by Ryan Choi

Like a silver coin

わが顏は似たり 銀貨に

月よりも蒼む寂しさ

Like a silver coin

lonelier

blue than

the moon

hearing of

her marriage to the baron, and

her becoming thus a baroness,

I stare into the mirror,

with regret:

Face—

Like a silver coin

lonelier

blue than

the moon
