The National Book Foundation announced the longlist for the 2022 National Book Award for Translated Literature(opens in a new tab). The Finalists in all five categories will be revealed on Tuesday, October 4.

The shortlist for the 2022 Sarah Maguire Prize for Poetry in Translation(opens in a new tab) was announced this month. Named after the founder of the Poetry Translation Centre, the prize is an international biennial award for the best book of poetry in English translation by a living poet from beyond Europe.

English PEN announced the first shortlist for PEN Presents(opens in a new tab), a new award for sample translations. Twelve translators representing seven languages spoken in India have been shortlisted for the first round of consideration.

The American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) has announced the shortlists(opens in a new tab) for the 2022 Italian Prose in Translation Award, the Lucien Stryk Asian Translation Prize, the inaugural Spain-USA Foundation Translation Award, and the National Translation Awards in Prose and Poetry.

The JCB Prize for Literature released the longlist for the 2022 award(opens in a new tab), presented each year to an outstanding work of fiction by a contemporary Indian author with significant awards for translators as well.

Anandita “Didiet” Budiman and Sekar Larasati Sulistya were named joint winners of the 2022 Harvill Secker Young Translators’ Prize(opens in a new tab). This year’s focus language was Indonesian; entrants to the competition were asked to translate an excerpt from the novel Dua Muka Daun Pintu by Triskaidekaman.

Submissions are open until November 30, 2022 for the 2023 EBRD Literature Prize(opens in a new tab), awarded to a work of fiction translated into English and published by a European (including UK) publisher.
