Print Journals

Two Lines: World Writing in Translation was a print literary journal that was published from 1994-2019 by the Center for the Art of Translation. This online archive includes the table of contents and contributors of each issue.

The journal created a home for world literature and a forum where literary translators could discuss their craft and receive the credit they deserved. This work lives on in all of CAT’s programming, including Two Lines Press’s Calico series(opens in a new tab). Published biannually, each Calico title features a curated collection of translated works exploring particular themes, regions, languages, historical moments, or literary styles. Our Calicos have featured queer Brazilian literature, poetry by Afghan women, international ghost stories, the first collection of Swahili literature ever published in the United States, and an ever expanding collection of original literary translation from around the world.
